Citizen Science

Citizen Science projects are where volunteers work with our staff scientists to collect data and find answers to real world problems involving our water resources and environment.

Citizen science projects allow participants to make a contribution to our monitoring efforts, while increasing their own scientific knowledge and understanding of environmental issues.  The more data which is collected can promote better understanding of our resources and enable better resource management decisions to be made.

Citizen science projects do not require specialized knowledge and instructions will be provided, either via our website or by informational kiosks at collection locations.

We currently  have our first Citizen Science program in place, asking for assistance in recording the water level at certain locations.  If you have questions about current projects,  ideas for additional projects, or would like to get your school or organization involved in a project, please call the District at (386) 362-1001.
