Northwest Region
Recreation - Northwest Region

The northwest region of the District follows the district boundaries through Jefferson County and portions of both Madison and Taylor counties. The Econfina, Aucilla, and Wacissa rivers flow through the northwest region to the Gulf of Mexico.

Recreational opportunities in this region include biking, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and wildlife viewing. The region provides excellent fishing and paddling opportunities at the numerous river access points. These river corridors provide natural flood protection and good wildlife habitat.

The northwest area is remote and wilderness-like area and access to District lands is limited due to the lack of roads and swampy areas.

District lands are numbered and circled in blue on the map above. Select one of these numbers or their corresponding links in the table below for a description and map of each tract.
